How to Start Your Therapy Journey
Feeling a little anxious and unsure of what to expect is normal! It's important to us that you feel comfortable from the very beginning of your experience with us. Read below to learn more about the process of starting therapy, or if you feel that you’re ready to schedule - click the “Contact Us or Request an Appointment” button below.
Have you decided to make an appointment? It’s easy to get started.
You can call us at 813-515-9602 or click “Contact Us or Request an Appointment”. This will take you to our “Contact Us” page! You can either send us a message here or schedule your appointment by clicking “Request Appointment”. Once you click “Request Appointment” you can pick from any of our therapists, choose in-person (at our office in the Carrollwood area of Tampa) or virtual. You will then be able to choose the day and time that you prefer! Once this is complete, we will contact you to confirm your appointment.
Not ready to schedule just yet? Want to do your own research?
That’s ok! You have options.
First, if you prefer to do a little research on your own, you can start by looking over our services that we offer. If you don’t see the service listed that you’re needing - send us a message or give us a call at 813-515-9602. We can let you know how we can help or refer you to a different therapist or practice.
Next, you can take a look at our therapists! Each therapist has their specialties, so a good start is to look through their bio’s on our site - to see if you feel that you may have a connection with one of them. Reading about their background, education, and interest is a great way to determine if they will be a good fit.
Lastly, if you’re still not sure. Give us a call and we can arrange a 15 minute phone consultation with one of our therapist. In this call, you can tell them why you want to get started - and they can tell you how they can help and about their approach.
What happens after I schedule?
Once you are scheduled, we will send you our online paperwork to your email. This must all be completed by at least 2 hours before your scheduled appointment - or we will just need to get you rescheduled! The reason for this is because your therapist needs time to review your online paperwork before the sessions.
What will my first session be like?
During that first visit, you and your therapist will get to know one another, establish some goals for the process, and begin developing a plan to move forward. If you are seeing your therapist virtually, you will receive a link in your email that you click to enter the session - easy! If you are seeing your therapist in person at our office in Carrollwood (13801 N Dale Mabry Hwy Tampa, FL 33618), then you will see that we share our building with other businesses! You will walk through the main doors. Once you’re inside of the building, you will walk up the stairs and through the door with our sign on it (Float On Counseling). Have a seat in our lobby - and your therapist will come out to greet you!
