Hello! My name is Olivia and I have lived in Florida since 2007. My husband and I have planted roots in the beautiful city of Tampa as we enjoy the sunshine, proximity to family, great restaurants, and sporting events. We enjoy traveling, the beach, yoga classes, attending concerts, and biking the Riverwalk. I have always been passionate in helping individuals therefore I am eager to help you navigate your way to a valued, fulfilled life. I want you to feel welcome in my office throughout our therapeutic relationship and will strive to create a safe space filled with empathy.
Why I became a Counselor?
Since I can remember, I found purpose and passion in helping others through difficult times. At the age of 17, I chose to major in Social Work in college and never looked back. There were multiple motivations and desires which drew me to the field of social work, including the common values of service, social justice, and importance of human relationships. I am continuously attracted the endless opportunities of practice contexts and working with clients to achieve their full potential. I obtain a keen interest in understanding the world, people’s ways of living in it, and enhancing human well-being.
Education, Experience, and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida and obtain Board of Oncology Social Work Certification. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work in 2017 from the University of South Florida. I have experience working with individuals and their families affected by a life altering diagnosis and understanding the complex issues raised by anxiety, grief/bereavement, medical crisis, and depression. Additionally, I have experience working with the young adult population facing worry, fear of the unknown, and serious illness. It is imperative to have an individual to turn towards who recognizes the unique challenges affecting career goals, life priorities, or dating.
My approach in therapy is collaborative, structured, and uniquely focused on you. I incorporate aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into my practice by identifying unhealthy thinking patterns and assisting you in reframing those thoughts. I utilize solution focused therapy as I concentrate on identifying concerns and obtaining manageable solutions to allow more effective coping. I integrate systems theory to provide the opportunity for you to discuss and understand how your emotional challenges affect your life and the surrounding systems.
Wherever your concern may be, I want you to feel welcome in my office throughout our therapeutic relationship and will strive to create a safe space filled with empathy. We will collaborate on goals and work toward achieving reduction in anxiety, distress, grief, and depression. I'm here to find a way to work with you that suits your individual needs!
