Men’s Counseling: Counseling Specifically for Men

Navigating and Understanding Men's Issues through Mental Health Counseling

Men’s Counseling

Men face unique challenges, and often feel the pressure to meet expectations set by family, society, and tradition. We are often expected to work hard, to stay strong, to not show signs of “weakness”, and to do it all on our own without asking for help.

Unfortunately, these norms often make men feel shame for talking about their problems and reaching out when need it most.  The “pressure cooker” effect can lead to a build up of stress and anxiety, with nowhere for it to go. This often leads to unhealthy coping mechanisms, feelings of hopelessness, outbursts, and pain.

Hesitation to start therapy is often due to the stigma and sometimes due to fear of judgment or being asked to dive right into feelings, assumptions that therapy is only for “sensitive” people or severe mental health needs, and beliefs that problems are for being solved and not talked about. Many men see those misconceptions for what they are, when they find it’s possible to get relief and to feel better when they go out on a limb after taking that step and deciding to do things differently.

There can be incredible value working with a therapist who can provide new perspectives, teach new skills, and work collaboratively with you to come up with a plan for getting unstuck - whatever you might be dealing with. Read below to learn more about our Men’s Counseling services.

Men’s Counseling Services

We understand the mental health challenges of men and often help men better understand themselves and better cope with the demands of family, work, and life in healthier ways when it comes to:

Stress and anxiety: striking a balance between work and personal relationships, dealing with burnout, and coping with anxiety (to include panic attacks), in more productive ways.

Depression: Finding a way through to the other side when hopelessness, defeat, and overwhelm shut you down.

Relationship issues: learning to communicate and deal with issues around conflict and intimacy.

Anger Management: understanding what’s beneath your anger, learning to channel it more effectively, and applying assertiveness skills when aggression has been the default response.

Work and Career Pressure: dealing with isolation that comes with leadership positions figuring out how to navigate the demands when expectations are high.

Self-Esteem and Identity: working with imposter syndrome, shame, and low-confidence - things that often stay hidden from the world and magnified in power when they are kept in secret.

Life Transitions: navigating parenthood, divorce, career changes, dating, and major loss.

Why Choose Us?

Therapy for men by men: The gender of a therapist is not always important, but sometimes it’s important to work with someone who gets the unique challenges that men face on a daily basis.

Confidentiality without Judgement: We provide a private space (with virtual therapy as an option) for men to freely express themselves without judgment.

Experienced Counselors: Our male therapists are fully licensed Mental Health Counselors with years of experience helping people with mens’ mental health issues.

Personalized Approach: We tailor counseling services to meet individual needs to make sure you don’t get a one-size-fits-all “cliche”.

It’s okay to ask for help. You don’t have to do this alone. Doing the hard thing and asking for support, is one of the strongest things you can do.

Taking the first step of getting started is often the hardest part in therapy. Contact us and our Client Care Coordinator can make sure that you have all of the information you need and will also help by recommending which male therapist would be the best fit for you.
